Berry Global Expands Manufacturing Capacity to Provide Localized Support
Berry Global Group has announced plans to establish a second manufacturing facility and a global center of excellence in healthcare in Bangalore, India.
Scheduled to be developed near the company’s existing operation in Bangalore, the new facility will allow the company to expand its R&D expertise and increase production in several key health sectors: ophthalmology, nasal pumps, inhalation and injectable administrations. The increased capacity will also improve supply in India and across South Asia, reaching out to some of the fastest growing geographies of the healthcare market.

Innovation and health development
Among his development work, Berry will continue to focus on inhalation devices, including models with digital capabilities and the next generation of injectable devices. Another core business area will be the introduction of innovations in nasal and ophthalmic spray pumps and healthcare packaging for various products.
In addition to manufacturing equipment, the new facility will also house an R&D center of excellence. In addition to ensuring that dosing and administering drugs are both easy and comfortable for the user, another key design criterion will be to support customers’ sustainability goals, as the existing facility in Bangalore is already accredited International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate (ISCC) Plus. This allows Berry to sell ISCC certified plastic packaging and components that contribute to a circular economy approach based on advanced recycling and mass balance. The mass balance approach makes it possible to monitor the quantity and sustainability characteristics of circular and / or biobased content in the value chain and to assign them on the basis of verifiable accounting, according to the ISCC organization.
Construction of the new facility is expected to begin later this year, with the site validated and ready to go into production by summer 2023.
