Koenigsegg expands with a new factory and new employees

Koenigsegg’s new development will also include additional warehousing and pre-production space and a potential all-new track on site. In total, the expansion will result in an on-site construction footprint of more than 30,000 square meters, the company says in a press release.

With Koenigsegg’s second 11,000 square meter facility in Ängelholm established last year, this means Koenigsegg has ample space to expand its operations over the next few years.

The new Gemera factory will be connected to the existing Koenigsegg office building – and its four former air force hangars have become production and assembly spaces. It is specifically located on the grounds of Valhall Park, on the old open-air flight lines where fighter jets used to park. The Gemera is the first four-seater car built by Koenigsegg.

The company says the new plant will also accommodate its engineering and technology development initiatives over time.

The expansion of the company’s facilities also means that an increase in the workforce is needed. Koenigsegg says it is on track to hire 100 engineers and 150 additional production workers by the end of 2023, which would bring the total workforce to nearly 800 employees.
