Three employees of Dangote Cement Company have been killed in several road accidents in Kogi State.

More than 50 other people were also injured in the accident which occurred around Zariagi Obajana road around 5.45pm on Thursday May 26.

A company staff member who did not want his name mentioned identified the victims as Aliyu Sheshi, Victoria and Beatrice.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, the multiple accident involved four vehicles: a truck, a luxury bus, a Toyota and a Peugeot 406.

The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Kogi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Stephen Dawulung, who confirmed the development on Friday, May 27, said 48 men and 15 women were involved in the accident.

“The incident resulted in the deaths of one adult male and two adult females,” he said.

While attributing the cause of the accident to excessive speed and brake failure, the sector commander, however, warned motorists to avoid speeding and be disciplined when traveling on the road.

“We will continue to talk to them. Drivers know what to do but they won’t. A lot of people have lost their lives on this Obajana road due to speeding just because the road is kinda good. Sometimes we say the roads are not good, that’s why people have accidents,” Dawulung said.

“But in this case, the good roads are the ones that cause accidents because drivers do not respect the speed limit. We must respect the speed limit because driving is related to discipline. If there is no speeding, even in the event of an accident, the consequences will be mild, but when it is at maximum speed, the accident will be fatal,” he added.

Meanwhile, friends of Aliyu Sheshi took to Facebook to mourn him.
